Fatal accident in Hyrum

LOGAN – An elderly man died in a 3 vehicle accident in Hyrum Wednesday morning. The accident occurred just before 7:00 am near 3600 South 1200 West, between Hyrum and Nibley. 2 other people were injured and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Scott Larsen was near the accident after it occurred, feeding cattle in a field.  He was told two vehicles were traveling south-bound on 1200 West. Duane Labrum, 72, of Hyrum was driving a third vehicle approaching north-bound.

One of the southbound vehicles attempted to pass the other, clipping it, and then hitting Labrum’s vehicle head-on.

Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Peterson said Labrum was pronounced dead at the scene.

1200 West was closed to all traffic while the crash was being investigated.

<span>The accident remains under investigation and possible charges are being reviewed by the Cache County Attorney’s Office.</span>
