Ribbon-cutting celebration for Tenth West completion

<span class=”s1″>LOGAN – A ribbon-cutting event to mark the end of the Logan Tenth West roadway reconstruction project is Friday at noon at the Bridgerland Applied Technology College West Campus, 1425 North 1000 West.</span>

<p class=”p1″><span class=”s1″>The public is invited and light refreshments will be served after the program.</span>

<p class=”p1″><span class=”s1″>Speakers will include Logan Mayor Randy Watts, Logan Public Works Director Mark Nielson, Cache County Executive Lynn Lemon, plus representatives of Staker-Parson and Ralph Wadsworth construction companies along with Shane Marshall, deputy director of the Utah Department of Transportation.</span>

<p class=”p1″><span class=”s1″>“We expect to cut the ribbon at about 12:35 and that will tie up all the major roadway issues,” said UDOT spokesman Vic Saunders. “All lanes will be open and people will be able to enjoy Tenth West to the fullest.”</span>

<p class=”p1″><span class=”s1″>Saunders said the total project cost about $67.5 million.</span>

<p class=”p1″><span class=”s1″>“It started in 2007 with the first concept design. That was followed by an environmental study in 2008-09 to meet National Environmental Policy Act requirements then construction began in 2010-11. The second segment was underway during 2012-13.</span>

<p class=”p1″><span class=”s1″>“It’s been a long period but considering the 40 years that Cache Valley citizens waited for it, we feel it will be worth the wait.</span>

<p class=”p1″><span class=”s1″>“Everyone is invited to the ribbon-cutting. For those who have been patient in finding alternate travel routes during this process, it is a great opportunity to celebrate and enjoy the opening of this roadway.”</span>
