Stokes critical of Logan City’s utility rates

Steven Stokes has run for Logan Municipal Council before but he was kicked by a horse and did not know if he would be able to run this year by the time the deadline came. Later, Stokes filed as a write-in candidate and says he hopes people will support his campaign.

On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Wednesday, Stokes complained about utility rates.

“Our Logan City owns its own power company, which we all know,” Stokes said. “Their rates are 10% higher than Rocky Mountain Power right now on average.

“As we all know, every year they get together and decide the budget and they take money out of the utilities and put it toward the general budget. Whether we want to call it utilities or we want to call it a tax, I believe in calling it what it is. It’s a tax.”

Stokes is one of the owners of Propel Trampolines, a business that imports products from China and sells them in the United States.

The candidates who have filed for Logan Municipal Council include incumbent councilwoman Holly Daines, S. Eugene Needham and Jess Bradfield.
