LOGAN – Local volunteers gathered at Willow Park Thursday morning, for the United Way, Day of Caring. The event was coordinated by the United Way of Cache Valley to coincide with other events being held across the state of Utah. The goal was to bring volunteers and businesses together to provide service for local non-profit organizations.
Doug Stephenson, President of the United Way in Cache Valley said they expected over 200 volunteers this year to work on 10 to 12 projects.
Some of the projects were to benefit Capsa, Bear River Head Start, Options for Independence, American West Heritage Center, Cache Employment and Training Center and others.
“We got kind of a variety of different things,” said Stephenson. “I think the Child and Family Support Center also has packets to put together, for people who can’t do manual labor but can sit down and put packets together. So were trying to make it available to everybody.”
This is the fourth year the United Way has joined the Day of Caring.
