BRIGHAM CITY (AP) – A 45-year-old man and his 16-year-old stepdaughter are dead in an apparent murder-suicide in Brigham City.
Authorities say they were called to a home about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday after a mother found her daughter, Alix Norman, dead in the basement.
Police say they responded and found Michael Woodruff was also dead and had a .40-caliber handgun nearby.
Both suffered gunshot wounds.
Police say it appears the stepfather shot the teenager and the killed the family dog before turning the gun on himself.
The Standard-Examiner reports a motive is unclear, and family members reported the two seemed to have a good relationship prior to the shooting.
