Utah Senator Orrin Hatch says Republicans agree it is important to get rid of Obamacare but he says there is some disagreement on the issue among top party leaders.
This week, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said unfortunately, Republicans have no alternatives to Obamacare. Hatch says that’s simply not true. On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Thursday, he said the problem is that any alternative the GOP comes up with is destroyed by the liberal media.
“We’ve got all kinds of approaches that would take the few good things about Obamacare and build on them so it would work,” he explained. “The main approach would be to lock grant the money to the states. Let the states solve their own problems. We’re finding that the Republican governors, who are the majority now, are solving these problems in these respective states in accordance with the will of the people in those states.”
He says that approach is much better than having a federal solution that just doesn’t work.
