Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Chad Jensen said the homeowner, Jack O’Neill, reported the burglary on July 24. Seventeen guns, miscellaneous tools, ammo, and other outdoor equipment were reported stolen.

Sheriff’s detectives interviewed Messer a day later and arrested him on a 2nd degree felony burglary charge and 17 counts of theft of a firearm, also all 2nd degree felonies.

Becthol was arrested on eight felony counts of receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm by a restricted person.

Investigators are still recovering the remaining stolen property. The case has been turned over to the Cache County Attorney’s office.
