United Way fundraiser and adult center

The theme is “Notes of Appreciation,” and the United Way of Cache Valley is hosting its largest event of the year on Saturday. It’s a fundraising dinner starting at six p.m. at the USU Taggart Student Center Ballroom.

Doug Stephenson, Executive Director of the United Way, says the keynote speaker will be Craig Jessop, Dean of the Caine College of the Arts at USU. Concert pianist and composer Kevin Kula will provide the musical entertainment.

Stephenson says money raised from the event will help support programs offered by the United Way’s partner agencies. On KVNU’s Crosstalk show, he said United Way helps out at times when there is a special need, such as the adult day center which will open soon.

“It’s a real need in our community that we haven’t had for a few years now since it closed there at Sunshine Terrace,” Stephenson said of the adult day center. “We want to make a place where people can get some rest and also have something for their loved ones. We’ll have music therapy, games, and other things that they can do to stimulate their minds.”
