Boy drowns in hot tub, death under investigation

Four Seasons Apartment Resort/Event Center where Carter Bassett was found unresponsive in a hot tub during a Wedding Reception.

NORTH LOGAN — A three-year-old boy from Weston Idaho, died Friday night after being found unresponsive in a hot tub.

Chief Kim Hawkes of the North Park Police Department said Carter Bassett was found floating in the hot tub at the Four Seasons Event Center, 140 East 2220 North.

Hawkes said at 7:50 p.m., someone saw the boy unconscious in the hot tub and called 911. It is unknown how long he had been in the water. Someone began performing CPR immediately. Paramedics arrived and transported him to Logan Regional Hospital. Efforts to resuscitate the boy were unsuccessful.

Carter Bassett is the son of Dixie and Brendon Bassett of Weston. According to Hawkes, the family was attending a wedding reception at the time of the accident.

It is unclear how the boy was able to gain access to the hot tub and pool area, which is separated and fenced off from the reception area.

Four Seasons Reception Center declined to comment about the accident.
