Resurfacing work to begin Sunday on US 89/91 in Wellsville

<span style=”font-family: tahoma,sans-serif;”><strong>Ogden –</strong> The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advises motorists that work will begin Sunday on resurfacing work on U.S. Highway 89/91, from state Road 23 in Wellsville to Sardine Summit.

On Sunday, June 23, crews will begin resurfacing US-89/91, as well as complete other improvements on this heavily traveled highway.  The project will take much of the summer to conduct, with completion scheduled for September. 

During this project, c</span><span style=”font-family: tahoma,sans-serif;”><span style=”font-family: tahoma,sans-serif;”>rews will remove and replace the asphalt pavement on US-89/91 from Sardine Summit to SR-23 to extend the roadway life.  Crews will also replace roadside</span></span> <span style=”font-family: tahoma,sans-serif;”><span style=”font-family: tahoma,sans-serif;”><span style=”font-family: tahoma,sans-serif;”><span style=”font-family: tahoma,sans-serif;”>delineators and add rumble strips on the centerline and shoulders to improve motorists safety. </span></span> Additionally, the concrete rock barrier along side US-89/91 in Box Elder Canyon between Brigham City and Mantua will be also be replaced.

Finally, the Park &amp; Ride lot in Wellsville will be repaved as part of this project.</span>  The work will occur on June 29-30, July 6-7, and July 27-28,  No parking will be allowed within the Park &amp; Ride lot on these scheduled work days.  Alternate parking will be provided along the shoulder of SR-23, and vehicles found in the lot will be towed.

During this project, US-89/91 will be restricted to one lane from Sardine Summit to Wellsville during daytime hours pn weekdays and weekends, except from noon on Fridays until 7 p.m. on Saturday when all lanes must be opened.  Wide-load restrictions will also be in effect during the completion of this project, as will l</span><span style=”font-family: tahoma,sans-serif;”><span style=”font-family: tahoma,sans-serif;”>ane restrictions for the barrier replacement work from Brigham City to Mantua.</span>

Motorists may experience some traffic delays, particularly when traveling south-bound for the portions of this project.  Those with time-sensitive travel should consider using</span> <span style=”font-family: tahoma,sans-serif;”><span style=”font-family: tahoma,sans-serif;”>SR-30, the <em>Valley View Highway</em>, to reach Interstate 15 at Riverside as an alternate route.</span>
