By the time the election filing period ended Friday, three candidates had filed for mayor of Logan and another three candidates had filed for two open city council seats. Mayor Randy Watts, who is running for a third four-year term has two challengers.
One is city employee James Olsen, who works in the planning and community development department as director of the Community Development block grant coordinator and Craig Peterson, a longtime Cache County councilmember.
Incumbent councilmember and current chairperson Holly Daines will be on the ballot with Jess Radfield and Gene Needham, Sr., with two of them to be elected. That means there will be a primary in the mayor’s race but not for the contest among council candidates.
