Tenth West paving rescheduled for Friday

Ogden — The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advises motorists that due to unforeseen issues, paving work will not resume on state Road 252, also known as Tenth West in Logan, until Friday night, May 17.

At that time, concrete paving will begin with a full closure of Tenth West occurring from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. from 200 North (SR-30) to 600 North. Then, on Saturday, May 18, another full closure for paving will be implemented from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., between 200 North and 1000 North. Finally, a full closure will occur on Sunday, May 19, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., between 600 North and 1000 North.

UDOT Project Manager Rod Terry says the full closures will facilitate and speed initial paving operations when traffic on Tenth West is at it’s lightest flows. He reminds motorists using the Tenth West construction corridor to use only those business and industrial entrances that have been designated by specific “business access” signs. Terry said this is especially true during concrete paving, and reminds motorists, pedestrians and local residents that the new concrete cannot be walked on or driven on until the newly paved lanes are officially opened for traffic by project officials.

“This new pavement will take several days to cure properly, and because of the agents used to speed curing of the concrete, it may appear to be harder than it really is,” Terry said. “So please don’t walk or drive on this new pavement. Anyone who drives or walks on the newly paved concrete will be personally liable for the cost of the repairs, and we do not want to see that happen,” he said.

“The project team is going to do its best to provide motorists with the best-built roadway that we can,” he continued. “Motorists and pedestrians can help us do this by staying within provided traffic lanes and designated walk-ways, and by staying off of the new pavement until we determine that it is ready to be used.”
