LOGAN— There’s been a delay in the start of construction for the Cache County School District’s building bond election because of a technical violation, but Cache School Superintendent Steve Norton said it looks like there’s a good chance the original schedule can possibly be met.
On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Tuesday, Norton said a lot of preparations are already made, but postponing the election from June until November will cause some delays.
“There’s going to be a lot of building going on in this valley with the Logan school bond and the Cache County school bond. We are concerned that we might flood the market with too much work at a particular time and not be able to get the economy of scale of not being enough contractors for the work that’s involved,” Norton said. “We are concerned that if we start everything at the same time and end everything at the same time – we are trying to figure out a schedule that would stagger some of the construction.”
Norton said officials are hoping interest costs won’t go up between now and November, but overall he said there is a lot of optimism surrounding the project.
