Better Logan and the Cache Valley Volunteer Center will host the official launch of “Grow Community” Saturday. James Olsen, program coordinator for Better Logan and also for Logan City’s Neighborhood Council, says “Grow Community” is an initiative to match those with under-utilized garden space and those with a desire for garden space.

A presentation will be made at 10 a.m. at the Logan Library’s Bonneville room and it is expected to last about 30 minutes. Olsen says all through the city there are garden spaces not being used for various reasons–some seniors cannot keep them up anymore, others are too sick, busy or unmotivated.

He says these people are needed to step forward and indicate that they have space available. Olsen cites his own household as an example of such a situation. His wife Vena is expecting a baby in June, reducing the amount of work his household will be ale to put into their garden this year.
