Sheriff’s deputy involved in traffic accident

Two vehicle accident at the intersection of 1200 South and SR 165.

PROVIDENCE — A Cache County Sheriff’s Deputy was transported to Logan Regional Hospital Wednesday around 1 p.m. after being involved in an accident south of Logan. According to Sheriff’s Lieutenant Brian Locke, the deputy was traveling west on 1200 South in Providence.

The deputy was reporting to a call and had her emergency lights and siren activated when she tried to cross through the intersection of State Road 165. At the same time, a grey four-door-sedan drove into the intersection heading south and was broadsided by the deputy.

Locke said the deputy had a red light when she tried to cross through the intersection and it appears the driver of the sedan did not hear the deputy’s siren or see her flashing lights.

There were only minor injuries and the deputy has been released from the hospital. Because the accident involved a Sheriff’s deputy, the Utah Highway Patrol has been asked to investigate.
