LOGAN— April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and the 4th annual event is hosted by the Child and Family Support Center of Cache Valley. The center’s Executive Director, Esterlee Molyneaux, said there were 214 substantiated cases of child abuse in Cache Valley over the last year, affecting 325 victims.

Utah first lady Jeanette Hebert will be a special guest at a program starting Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Cache County courthouse, where a pair of shoes representing each child abuse victim will be placed on the steps. Molyneaux said civic and community leaders, law enforcement, service providers and families from throughout Cache and Rich counties will be in attendance.

Molyneaux said there will be a free family play date after the program at the Logan Community Recreation center. Other activities will follow throughout the month.
