Child and Family Support Center hosting Strengthening Families Symposium

LOGAN— The Child and Family Support Center is presenting its second annual Strengthening Families Symposium Saturday, March 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bridgerland Applied Technology College.

Program Coordinator Jennifer Bair said the purpose of the gathering is to help parents strengthen their own families and give them information that might help them if they believe changes need to be made. Bair said the keynote speaker will be Stephen Hunsaker.

“He is an institute teacher up at USU, he has 10 children of his own, he was one of our biggest and our most favorite speakers last year, and so we decided to have him for our keynote,” Bair said. “He’s going to be talking about ‘Home Sweet Home’ and how it’s so important to have those values and things within your own home, so kids don’t go outside of the home looking for love and values and things like that.”

Among the topics up for discussion are budgeting, domestic violence, pornography, positive discipline, child abuse, nutrition, drug and alcohol abuse, sexuality/safety and self-esteem/self-worth. Lunch will be provided and admission is free, though space is limited.
