LOGAN— Friday, March 8, is International Women’s Day, and Sally Keller said this year it’s being celebrated on the same day Global Village Gifts celebrates its new location at 69 East 100 North. Keller managed the non-profit store on a volunteer basis for 25 years as a place where artisans from many different countries, most of them women, sold the items they have made.
“It’s a happy place, we have wonderful items for sale, and it’s just so thrilling to think that you’re purchasing an item – maybe for a gift or for your home – and at the same time, you’re offering help and a hands up to an artisan in another country,” Keller said.
There will be a ribbon-cutting is at noon and everyone’s invited to attend. That evening, Keller and her husband, Jack, will receive an award for their humanitarian work in many different countries at USU’s Founders Day program.
