Sheriffs arrest Providence man for threats to local high school, businesses

PROVIDENCE - The Cache County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 22-year old Kirby Alan (Spencer) Hivnera for making threats to a high school, local businesses and for making threats in Colorado. According to a press release, on Wednesday the Cache County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible threat to a school.

A citizen in Colorado reported to their local Sheriff’s Office that they had received an anonymous call stating there would be a shooting at a “Mountain Creek High School.” It is unclear at this time whether or not the man was referring specifically to Mountain Crest High School in Hyrum. Hivner is a 2007 graduate of Mountain Crest.

The call was traced to an address in Providence and it was determined that several other phone calls had been made from this address threatening to “shoot up” a business or a school in Utah.

Hivner was arrested and booked into the Cache County Jail on Friday for Threats of Terrorism, a third degree felony.
