UPDATE: Family and friends searching for Chase Clements

Friends and family of Chase Clements are concerned about his whereabouts and haven’t seen or heard from him in days. Chase, 22, was last seen Wednesday and last heard from Wednesday afternoon. He was last seen wearing dark gray sweatpants, a brown Carhart jacket and a gray beanie.

“He didn’t show up for work Thursday and no roommates or friends know where he is,” says Skyler Clements, Chase’s brother. Chase works at the JBS Swift meat packing plant in Hyrum.

Clements is described as 5’9″, 160 lbs with a strawberry blonde beard and blonde hair. Once family realized that Chase was missing, they tried calling and tracking his cell phone. The cell phone he used hasn’t been working since Wednesday afternoon. They have also tried tracking his credit cards.

“We made contact with the bank and they told us the last place the card was used,” Skyler says.

That place was a Motel 6 in Ely, Nevada Thursday night. The family contacted local authorities who then contacted the Ely Police Department. According to Skyler and his mother, Nancy, Motel 6 employees have not cooperated and have not been able to provide any detail as to who used the card Thursday night and checked out Friday morning.

Logan City Police confirm that a missing persons report has been filed but they have not been able to verify Clements’ whereabouts.

“Police are treating him as an adult that is on a joy ride,” Skyler says.

But the family says it is unlike Chase to go somewhere without telling someone first and he has never done anything like this before.

“He’s really a positive person, a happy-go-lucky guy,” says Chase’s mother, Nancy. “He’s just a joy to be around. I can’t begin to think of an enemy (he might have). He was happy when I talked to him on Tuesday when he was going to play pool with friends.

“He was supposed to call my husband Wednesday to help him on a welding project but we never heard from him.”

The family is suspicious about his disappearance because Chase left everything behind, including all of his clothes, his laptop and even his beloved Alaskan Husky.

“Wednesday afternoon he spoke with his roommate because we were looking for his dog,” Nancy says. “They had located the dog and he said he was coming home to check on her but he never showed up. That dog is his baby.”

Chase was last seen driving away from the house he shares with roommates in Lewiston. Chase was driving his mid-to-late 90s model Honda Civic wagon that is a tan, champagne color. According to his family, the car was unreliable and Chase had said he had problems with the vehicle as recently as Monday.

A Facebook page has been set up to provide details and seek leads about Chase. If anyone has any information about Chase Clements, they are encouraged to contact the Logan City Police Department.
