Plans moving forward for new Adult Day Center

A location has been chosen, contributions have been made and Mary Bennett says a new Cache Valley Adult Day Center will open as soon as approximately $60,000 can be raised.

Bennett was director of the Center previously housed at Sunshine Terrace but it had to move when plans for the building changed. On KVNU’s Crosstalk program Thursday, Bennet said since that time there has been a void for caregivers who need some relief.

“Caregivers want to continue to take care of their loved ones. It’s just part of their heart and soul to be in charge of their loved ones’ care. But they get exhausted,” Bennett said. “If they have a few hours of a break they continue to have their loved ones with them. Actually that’s good for the people that are confused as well.”

Bennett said a place is reserved for the Center in the Whittier Community Center and hopefully the rest of the money will be raised soon. She said caregivers can take their loved one every day or for an hour or two when they have something they need to do.
