The Christmas shopping season has ended, so how did it turn out for local businesses? Cache Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Sandy Emile said she believes it was a good season for both businesses owners and consumers.
“They spent; they bought smart things. They didn’t buy a lot of frivolous things,” Emile said on KVNU’s Crosstalk program. “They bought things that were going to help them in their lifestyles for gifts. I don’t think there was a lot of frivolity as far as the gift giving and where you see your sales tax dollars going.
“We were steady. I think we met what we did last year as far as our sales tax dollars, which is great. And our unemployment is really very good. We are in the top 10 in the nation.”
Emile said Cache Valley is also rated high for expected entrepreneurial expansion in 2013.
