LOGAN– It’s down to crunch time for Carlton Brown, coordinator for the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation’s annual Toys for Tots project in the local five-county area. Brown said local people have been great to provide toys and cash for children in need but this year donations are running behind.
On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Thursday, Brown said three years ago one lady donated over 1300 kids’ teepees and this year he said kids at the Willow Valley Middle School in Wellsville turned in more than $600 in cash.
So what can each child expect to get from the Toys for Tots program?
“We try to give them at least two toys, a stuffed animal, a stocking stuffer and a kids teepee. I think we’ll get rid of the other 240 teepees this year.”
Brown said members of the local Marine Corps League have put in hundreds of hours on the project and many people and businesses have helped. New and unwrapped toys can be taken to the warehouse just behind the Cache Community Food Pantry on 250 South Main in Logan. For more information check the website or call 881-2095.
