New Multicultural Center director excited about new challenge

The Multicultural Center of Cache Valley has a new executive director. Ernesto Lopez took over the job previously held by Norma Martinez, who remains on the board of directors.

A native of Mexico, Lopez moved to Idaho at the age of 15 and he has lived in Cache Valley since 1999. Currently employed at Head Start, he says he is excited about the new challenge.

“You’d be surprised how many people we help on a weekly basis,” Lopez said. “We are busy most of the time. It’s just great to know that the center really is needed.

“We are making every effort to not only keep it open but also increase the services that are being offered and the quality of them.”

The Multicultural Center is located in the Whittier Community Center. Lopez says the center is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 12 noon to 5 p.m., and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call 753-8486 for more information.
