TREMONTON, Utah (AP) – A 42-year-old Chinese tourist is dead after losing control of his Harley Davidson near Tremonton.
Utah Highway Patrol officials say Bin Gu was riding on Interstate 15 with three other motorcyclists just after noon Sunday when he drifted into the center median of the freeway.
Authorities say he was thrown from the motorcycle when it a cable barrier.
Gu had been wearing a helmet but was taken to the hospital with extensive injuries to his face and head. Officials say he died about four hours later.
The Chinese tour group had rented motorcycles in Jackson Hole, Wyo., and was headed to Salt Lake City at the time. The crash is still under investigation, but troopers say speed doesn’t appear to be a factor.
