Coroner IDs body at Mantua campground as missing Brigham City woman

BRIGHAM CITY, Utah (AP) — The state medical examiner says a body found last week near a campground belongs to a missing, 31-year-old Brigham City woman.

Box Elder County sheriff’s officials say Jenny Atkinson was identified Monday by several tattoos on her body.

Atkinson’s body was found by children Friday in a ravine near Dock Flats Campground, about 300 yards from her Toyota Scion. Her father says she was missing since July 17, when she dropped her 12-year-old son off at a friend’s house and disappeared.

Box Elder Chief Deputy Kevin Potter tells the Standard-Examiner authorities are chasing down leads, but don’t know the cause of Atkinson’s death.
