Everyone is invited to a star party at the American West Heritage Center on Friday, August 10. Andrea Childs of the center says people can take a train or wagon ride, go on a treasure hunt, and learn about history while watching the skies closely for the Perseids meteor sower.
The event is from 7 to 11 p.m. with the last ticket sold at 10 p.m. Festival admission is $6 for everyone ages three and over. For those who bring a telescope to share they will receive free admission but should contact the center prior to the event.
While at the Heritage Center people will have a chance to see the American West gunfighters stage a robbery under cover of darkness. Keep an eye out for the glow-in-the-dark tractor-drawn wagon making its rounds from 7 to 10 p.m. At the Opera House there will be a Star Carnival with games and treats.
