Fire restrictions lifted in Utah’s national forests

Fire restrictions currently in place on the national forests in Utah were lifted at midnight Friday. Fire restrictions on all other federal, state and unincorporated lands in Utah remain in effect.

Fire restrictions are no longer in effect in the following National Forests: Uintah-Wasatch-Cache, Ashley, Fishlake, Dixie, and Manti-Lasal. Fire restrictions on adjacent public and private unincorporated lands are still in effect unless otherwise posted.

Sue Stewart, director of fire and aviation in the Forest Service Intermountain Region, says although the restrictions are not in effect everyone should be cautious and properly extinguish their fires. She says campfires have to be cold enough to touch before they are left. The fire restrictions have been in effect since June 14 due to extreme fire danger.
