LOGAN— Fireworks sellers in Utah say business has dropped this summer because of restrictions, prompted by a number of major wildfires across the state.
Tyson Watson of Olympus Fireworks in Logan said the high fire danger and fireworks restrictions this season led to a wave of paranoia among customers.
“I (attribute) most of it to the – not just the weather conditions, but the weather conditions become what everybody talks about,” Watson said. “It’s almost like you’re shunned if you do fireworks.”
Watson did point out that there weren’t any fires attributed to fireworks around the July Fourth holiday. He hopes recent rainfall will mean an increase in sales for this week’s Pioneer Day celebrations. Olympus Fireworks in Smithfield, Logan, and Providence will be open through Wednesday.
