76 entities apply for county RAPZ funds

A total of almost $3.5 million was requested but if the Cache County Council goes along with the county’s RAPZ and Restaurant Tax Committee’s recommendations 55 entities will be receiving $1.9 million in appropriations over the next fiscal year.

Cache County Executive Lynn Lemon told the county council Tuesday night that population is one of the criteria in making the awards and he says Logan City’s population makes up about 50 percent of the county’s population. He says the committee has recommended about 62 percent of the allocations go to the city. That would include $112,000 for the financially-struggling Willow Park Zoo.

Seventy-six different entities applied for RAPZ-Restaurant Tax funding and 55 of them received some appropriation. The council will vote on whether or not to approve the recommendations at their next meeting on Tuesday, June 5.
