Beginning with a Wednesday midday ribbon cutting a new funeral home has opened in the Cache Valley at 585 West 100 North in Providence.
Owner Kent Smith said with the Providence opening there are five SereniCare Funeral Home locations in Utah.
“We do all the traditional things any mortuary would do,” said Smith. “We do viewings. We have the capability to do embalmings, we arrange for cremations and we have rooms for small gatherings.”
Smith said because SereniCare is the fifth largest funeral home in the state, and the fastest growing, it gives credence to the company’s approach.
“Our idea is to be a funeral home that’s more reasonably priced by cutting overhead costs wherever we could. The difference between our funeral home and every other one is that we don’t have a chapel attached to our location. We have room for small gatherings and for families to get together. We hold our services in chapels or facilities around the area.”
Smith said the average SereniCare funeral costs $5,000-$6,000 which is about $4,000 less than the average in Utah.
“And you don’t lose even an ounce of service or quality. We sell good quality caskets, good quality people work at our funeral home, we take care of the needs of the family at our services.”
There are other SereniCare Funeral Homes in Ogden, Draper, St. George and in the Provo-Orem area.
