In 2006 thousands of local volunteers joined Kartchner Homes to build single mother Janet Pauni and her nine children a new home in just one week. As part of the community donations Stevens-Henager College provided full-ride scholarships to the Pauni children to receive bachelor degrees.
Spencer Pauni becomes the first in the family today earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Spencer believes his academic success stemmed from the incredible community support his family received.
The family moved to Utah from Tonga in 1991 to give their children a better life and educational opportunities. In 2004 the husband and father, Danny Pauni, died of a heart attack leaving his wife Janet, their nine children and a live-in nephew struggling emotionally and financially.
