The Utah Peace Officers Association is expressing gratitude to Utah Governor Gary Herbert for his support of Tuesday’s National Peace Officer Memorial Day. Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Rick Mayo says the ultimate sacrifice of giving one’s life in the line of duty is one of the many dangers peace officers face when they serve in our community.
Sgt. Mayo asks the pubic to take a moment to thank a cop for his or her service and sacrifice. Governor Herbert has ordered the flag of the United States of America and the flag of the Great State of Utah to be flown at half staff on all state facilities from sunrise to sunset.
The Governor’s order follows an executive order from President Barack Obama proclaiming Tuesday as Peace Officer Memorial Day and Tuesday through Monday, May 21 as Police Week.
