Old Trenton Feed Mill catches on fire

The Trenton Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the Old Trenton Feed Mill at about 12:20 Tuesday afternoon. Several other units responded to assist the Trenton Fire Department, including units from Clarkston, Newton, the Cache County Fire District, Lewiston and Cache County EMS.

The feed mill is located at 235 West Main Street in Trenton. According to a press release from the Cache County Fire District, the first arriving engine reported light smoke coming from the structure. Crews were able to quickly identify the location of the blaze.

The fire was confined to a grain bin in the basement. Crews accessed the bin and extinguished the fire while other crews deployed to the roof, cooling the grain elevator legs that were connected to the bin.

The fire was caused by salvage contractors using cutting torches. Contractors are in the process of salvaging the metal in the old building. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
