Ogden– The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advises motorists of the following road construction and maintenance activities that may cause traffic impacts in the state’s Northern Region: Davis County North Salt Lake April 9-11: A new pedestrian signal is scheduled to be activated on April 11, at the intersection of US-89 and 800 West and Excalibre Street. This new signal, known as a High-intensity Activated Crosswalk, will give motorists advance warning of pedestrians, particularly school children, preparing to cross the street, to give them time to react and slow to a stop. When school crossing guards are present, motorists must obey the directions of the crossing guards, in addition to the signal. Crews will be on hand to install the signal heads and make final electrical connections early in the week with the signal going live on Wednesday. Motorists should reduce speeds in this zone and be prepared to stop at any time. Clearfield Apr 6-12: Work is underway on an auxiliary lane on northbound I-15, between 650 North (SR-103) in Clearfield and 5600 South (SR-97) in Roy. Crews are working Sunday through Friday, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly. During these nighttime closures, the outside lane of traffic may be closed or restricted. Daytime work in the interstate median or outside shoulder will also continue throughout the remainder of this project. Motorists should be alert for vehicles suddenly slowing down to enter, or leave this work area. Motorists with time-sensitive travel should use NB US-89 in Farmington to WB I-84 in Uintah to NB I-15 at Riverdale, or NB SR-126 at 650 North in Clearfield to EB 5600 South (SR-97) in Roy, returning to NB I-15 at the 5600 South Interchange. Weber County West Haven Apr 6-12: Work is underway on the reconstruction and signalization of the intersection of SR-37 (4000 South) and SR-134 (4700 West) in Hooper. Crews will be constructing right turn lanes, as well as installing ADA-compliant pedestrian ramps and a new traffic signal. During this project one lane of traffic will be maintained, but right and left turns from 4000 South to north-bound 4700 West, and from south-bound 4700 West to east- and west-bound 4000 West may be impacted. For questions about this project, call the project hotline at (801) 940-2402. Ogden Apr 6-12: Work is beginning anew on the project to resurface Washington Boulevard (US-89) from 36th to 26th Street. Ogden City has started a water line replacement project, and this activity is projected to continue for several weeks. For information about that city utility project please call 801-629-8992. Once this work is complete, work will continue with the planned roadway construction. April 9: On Monday, April 9, work will begin to install a new traffic signal on 12th Street (SR-39) at Depot Drive in Ogden. This work should take about a week to complete. The outside lanes of travel may be impacted during this work, so motorists should reduce speed, move to the left and be prepared to stop at any time. Cache County Logan Apr 6-12: Crews have resumed work on SR-252 (1000 West) as part of Phase One of the Tenth West Reconstruction. Work is underway to replace sections of the Logan River Bridge, and one lane of traffic in each direction is being maintained. Sidewalk and landscaping work also continues, with this work being conducted off of the main roadway. Motorists should be alert for construction vehicles pulling away from the curb at any time. Work also will begin on 2500 North in the coming weeks, beginning with a complete closure to replace the railroad crossing presently scheduled for April 16-17. Motorists should begin planning now to use alternate routes during this closure, such as 600 or 1000 West to reach locations east and west of this crossing. Stakeholders will receive advance notice when this closure is imminent. For more information, e-mail email@example.com or call, toll-free, 888-427-8585. Apr 9-12: Crews will be conducting crack sealing on SR-165, between Logan and Hyrum, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in one direction in the area of the work being accomplished, with flaggers on hand to control traffic movements. Motorists with time sensitive travel, should consider alternate routes. Morgan County Mountain Green April 6-12: Work has resumed on the reconstruction of I-84, from Mountain Green (SR-167) to Morgan (SR-66). Concrete barrier placement continues next week. One lane of traffic in each direction is being maintained during peak traffic hours, as crews prepare to remove the old asphalt surface, reconstruct the roadway and then place a new, long-life concrete surface through this summer. Loads wider than 12-feet wide are prohibited on I-84 in the construction zone. The exception to this restriction is wide loads terminating in the Croydon or Morgan area west-bound on I-80 to I-84 at Echo Junction. These loads may be accepted on a case by case basis with advance notification. For more information on oversized loads routing call the UDOT Motor Carrier Division at 801-965-4892, the Echo Port of Entry at (435) 336-5286, or the Perry Port of Entry at (435) 734-9414.
