After wins in three races Tuesday – Maryland, Washington D.C. and Wisconsin – Mitt Romney has wrapped up the Republican presidential nomination. At least that is the view of many people, including David James, former Cache County Republican Party chairman who is now on the party’s State Central Committee. James said when considering the remaining states and the electorate in such states as California and New York, it’s looking very good for Romney. “If you sit down and do the math, it really does look like it. Obviously, they’re not doing their victory lap because the other candidates have not officially dropped out and it would be a bit unseemly at this point. My guess is that Gov. Romney will soldier on and continue to work. It may take another month – maybe two. It may go all the way to Utah, who knows,” James said. James said he doesn’t see a scenario where Romney is not the nominee. He feels it would be best for Romney and the Republican Party if Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum withdrew their candidacy so that a lot of the negative campaigning would end.
