After losing to Louisiana Tech in the first round of the Western Athletic Tournament last week, Utah State University has been issued an invitation to participate in the 4th annual College Insider Tournament. The Aggies will host Cal State Bakersfield Wednesday night at 7 p.m. MDT in the Spectrum.
This will mark the first time USU has participated in the CIT. USU has participated in the NCAA tournament nine times and the NIT tournament five times. Stew Morrill has a record of 1-12 in the post-season.
USU finished their season at 17-15 while CS Bakersfield finished their season at 16-14. This was the first season in 12 years that USU did not finish with more than 20 wins. Other teams from the state of Utah participating in the CIT include Weber State (24-6) and Utah Valley (20-12), who will face each other Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Ogden.
Idaho (18-13) is the only other school from the WAC participating in the CIT. They host UC Santa Barbara (20-10) Wednesday.
Regular season WAC champions Nevada (26-6) will participate in the NIT and will face Oral Roberts (27-6) in the first round Wednesday. Conference tournament champion New Mexico State (26-9) is the only WAC school participating in the NCAA tournament. The New Mexico State Aggies will play Indiana (25-8) on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
