Off-duty police officer in crash

An off-duty Logan City Police Officer crashed into a car carrying two Logan High School students Tuesday morning on their way to school. Following protocol, the incident was turned over to the Utah Highway Patrol for investigation. Lt. Lee Perry says at about 7:45 a.m. the officer, who was driving a Dodge Durango (a personal vehicle), was headed westbound on 100 South. He stopped at the intersection at 200 West at the same time a southbound 2005 Mazda was stopped.Perry says the Mazda had the right-of-way and proceeded through the intersection, when for an unknown reason the officer started as well, resulting in his vehicle hitting the driver side door of the car. No one was hurt but medical personnel was called to check everyone’s condition. Perry says the results of the investigation will be turned over to the County Attorney’s office by the end of the week where it will be determined what, if any, charges will be filed.
