Classic rock band to perform with local chorus and orchestra for Freedom Fire

The legendary rock band KANSAS is coming to Logan to headline the second annual Freedom Fire Celebration on July 3. Logan City and Utah State University’s Caine College of the Arts have teamed up to host the Independence Day spectacular in USU’s Romney Stadium.”We are going to wow them,” says USU Music Department Head and Freedom Fire producer Mike Bankhead. “It’s going to be spectacular. It’s going to be fun. “It’s going to be everything that you would expect for our great nation and Independence Day. Part of that celebration of our great nation will be a terrific tribute to our military members current and past.”Bankhead says it will be exciting to celebrate independence with the rock band KANSAS.”They are a great rock and roll band, classic rock and roll band, that I think people will know, enjoy seeing live,” Bankhead said. “They also have arrangements that work with symphony orchestras so we will be working that out with the band and with the orchestra members. We will have a lot of local talent as part of the show.”On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Wednesday, Bankhead said once again America Sings and the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra will perform at Freedom Fire. Logan Parks and Recreation Director Russ Akina says the fireworks show presented by Fireworks West International is expected to be the most spectacular ever.
