UDOT Region One road construction report for February 24-March 1, 2012

Ogden– The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advises motorists of the following road construction and maintenance activities that may cause traffic impacts in the state’s Northern Region: Davis County North Salt LakeFeb 24-Mar 1: Work is underway to complete repairs to the subsurface of north-bound US-89 and I-15 in North Salt Lake, where a natural gas pipeline crosses under these two roadways. Crews will be working nightly, from 7 p.m. to 11 a.m., with work beginning first on the NB US-89 segment, between milepost 384 and Eagle Ridge Drive. Lanes will be closed, beginning at 7 p.m. and congestion on US-89 is expected to be moderate to heavy during this work. US-89 motorists should consider using alternate routes. ClearfieldFeb 24-Mar 1: Work has started on an auxiliary lane on northbound I-15, between 650 North (SR-103) in Clearfield and 5600 South (SR-97) in Roy. Initial phases of the project will be conducted on the right shoulder as crews work in the area between 1300 North in Clinton and 2300 North in Sunset. Since crews will be working off the highway, lane restrictions should be limited. But motorists should be alert for vehicles suddenly slowing down to enter, or leave this work area. This project will be underway throughout the balance of the spring and summer and is targeted for completion in September. Weber County RiverdaleMar 1: Beginning March 1, work will begin on a project to rehabilitate the concrete surface of south-bound Interstate 15, between the I-84 Exit in Riverdale and 200 South in Clearfield. The project will result in precast concrete sections of the roadway being places to replace deteriorating sections of the original pavement. Initial work will begin on March 1 for four nights, to measure the segments that will be replaced and determine depth of the present pavement. Work will be conducted from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., with the two inside-most lanes closed intermittently throughout the project work zone. Motorists may want to consider alternate routes during this time, such as east-bound I-84 to south-bound US-89, regaining I-15 in Farmington, or southbound SR-126 (1900 West) via Hinckley Drive (SR-79). The remainder of the work on this project will begin June 15, and take approximately five months to complete. Cache County LoganFeb 24-Mar 1: Crews are conducting landscaping and sidewalk work on SR-252 (1000 West) as part of Phase One of the Tenth West Reconstruction Project as weather permits. All of this work is being conducted off of the main roadway, but construction vehicles may be parked on the shoulders. Motorists should be alert for contractor vehicles parked along the roadway and pulling away from the curb at any time. The new permanent speed limit for the completed roadway between US-89/91 and 200 North (SR-30) has now been set at 45 miles per hour and is being strictly enforced.
