Michael Martin Murphey returns to Cache Valley for Cowboy Rendezvous

It was highly successful last year and now the Second Annual Cache Valley Cowboy Rendezvous is planned for the weekend of March 1 and will be even better, according to coordinator Dale Major. Major says once again cowboy poets, musicians and artisans will gather at Mountain Crest High School in Hyrum and this year the Rendezvous opens with a pre-event solo concert by the popular Michael Martin Murphy. “A lot of folks really like him,” Major says. “Lots of guitar players learned Wild Fire because it is one of the most-listened to songs in all genres for radio play. “He will be headlining a Thursday night concert with us. In addition to him on the stage will be one of the premier Cowboy entertainers, singer-songwriters. His name is Dave Stamey from California.” On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Monday, Major said Murphy has been to Cache Valley several times and is excited about returning to Cache Valley. Major says there will be three stages of continuous cowboy poetry and western music along with dutch oven vendors, a youth poetry contest, kid’s corral, and many crowd-pleasing performers.
