An elderly woman is in the hospital following a crash at the intersection of 400 North Main Street in Logan. Assistant Police Chief Jeff Curtis says the woman was driving a silver passenger car southbound on Main Street and entered the turning lane to turn eastbound on 400 North.Meanwhile, a fully loaded dump truck pulling a pup trailer was traveling northbound entering the same intersection when the car turned in front of the truck. Curtis says the dump truck driver applied the brakes and took evasive maneuvers to avoid a collision but was unable to.The truck struck the car and the car was thrown across the street and hit the northbound concrete block that holds the traffic lights. Curtis says all of the car’s airbags deployed. The woman was taken to Logan Regional Hospital where her condition is not known at this time. Curtis says it’s not known why the woman turned in front of the truck.
