Chase ends when man barricades himself in Providence bathroom

A Providence man is in the hospital following a Sunday afternoon incident where he led Logan Police on a car chase through Logan, River Heights and Providence.Logan Asst. Police Chief Jeff Curtis says family members of the man approached an off-duty Cache County officer Sunday afternoon at the south side Logan McDonald’s. They stated the man was making suicidal threats. The officer called dispatch and Logan Police were sent to the scene. When the man heard the police were coming he got into a car and sped away with the officers following after. Curtis says when the man got to the area of 580 S 132 W in Providence he went inside his home and barricaded himself in a bathroom. Curtis says the man later surrendered without incident and was taken to the Behavioral Health Unit at Logan Regional Hospital where he was still being treated Monday morning. Curtis says no charges have been file yet but are pending. He says no one was hurt during the chase or stand off.
