Aggie Football Adds Running Back To Signing Class

LOGAN, Utah — Utah State football coach Gary Andersen announced Thursday that running back Abou Toure has signed with the Aggies, adding to USU’s 2012 signing class. Abou Toure (pronounced Ah-boo Tore-ay) is a 6-2, 230-pound running back from Framingham, Ma., and will have two years of eligibility with the Aggies. Toure played one season at Dean Junior College in Franklin, Mass., but only saw action in one game before suffering an injury and did not play the rest of the year. The year before, Toure played at Valley Forge Community College in Wayne, Pa., earning first-team all-conference honors as a freshman after rushing for over 1,000 yards in helping the team to an undefeated season. “As we said on Signing Day, we continue to recruit, especially with the emphasis on finding a high-quality running back and Abou definitely fills that role for us,” Andersen said. “Our coaches did a great job with him, and we are excited for him to join the Aggie football family.” Toure was a three-year letterwinner at Framingham High School, rushing for 1,204 yards on 144 carries (8.3 ypc) with 11 TDs as a senior in leading the Flyers to the state title. He earned first-team all-Bay State Conference honors and played in the Shrine All-Star Game. Born in Ivory Coast, Africa, Toure is the son of Ali Toure and Fatou Cisset, and has one sister. Toure’s signing gives the Andersen and the Aggies 16 players for the 2012 signing class. Utah State posted a historic season with a 7-6 record, its first seven-win season since 1993, capping its season with the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, losing to Ohio in a 24-23 thriller. Five of USU’s losses were by one score or less, and 10 of the Aggies’ games were decided by one score this season which are the most in the nation.
