Right now Logan City contracts with a Denver-based company to manage both public and private parking. Tuesday night Logan Police Chief Gary Jensen told the Municipal Council it might be time to go back to local department control. Jensen said although the parking company manages the parking enforcement, rarely does it get involved with complaints from the community. “What we’d like to see is perhaps common sense used in the enforcement of certain parking situations,” Jensen said. “Clearly we would have the ability to manage that from a police perspective versus the secondary approach of receiving complaints and trying to field them as a removed party from the parking situation.” Jensen says new software would be needed if the change is made but he says in the long run there would be some money saved by going back to local control.
