Homeowner in Hyrum allegedly fires three shots at intruder, detectives are investigating

A homeowner in Hyrum called police last night around 10 p.m. claiming a man had broken into his house and fled when the homeowner brought out a handgun and fired shots at the man. The homeowner, Robert Cisneros, described the suspect as a Hispanic man wearing a black hoodie. There was at least one other person reported in the home at the time of the alleged intrusion. Cisneros didn’t know if any of the shots he fired hit the suspect. Officers set up a perimeter as soon as they arrived in Hyrum and the Logan City Police Department’s canine unit tried to track the suspect but was unable to find any scent to trace. No suspects had been apprehended as of Saturday afternoon. Cache County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Brian Locke said some pieces of information are not coming together, and that the case has been turned over to detectives for further investigation. “We’re still investigating to make sure it even happened,” Locke said. There is no doubt that the shots were fired, Locke said, because there were three bullet holes in the door as well as damage done to the cement just outside the door. However, police are still trying to figure out the rest of the details and piece together what happened Friday night. – [email protected]
