Millsap, Miles fuel Jazz rout of Clippers 108-79

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Paul Millsap scored 20 points and reserve C.J. Miles added a season-high 19 as the Jazz defeated the Clippers 108-79 Tuesday night, Utah’s 16th straight home win against Los Angeles.The Clippers, who were without star guard Chris Paul for the second straight game because of a hamstring injury, have not won in Salt Lake City since 2003.Millsap picked up where he left off in Sunday’s win over Denver, starting 4 of 4 from the field. Miles provided a spark off the bench, with a 3-pointer, four steals and five rebounds.Blake Griffin scored eight first-half points and finished with 10 for L.A.Caron Butler led the Clippers with 14 points, while Chauncey Billups had 10 on 3-of-12 shooting.Utah has won eight of its last nine.After scoring 16 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter in a win over Denver, Millsap helped the Jazz jump out to a 13-2 lead.Utah led 52-41 at halftime.In the third, the Clippers cut the gap to 57-49 on Griffin’s put-back slam, but Millsap and Al Jefferson bumped it back to 12 on back-to-back buckets.Three-pointers by Devin Harris and Miles bumped Utah’s lead to 71-55 with 2:48 left in the third.Utah’s reserves dominated in the fourth, with rookies Alec Burks adding 11 and Enes Kanter 10. Jeremy Evans added nine points, all four field goals on dunks.NOTES: Los Angeles Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro said Paul is feeling better but he wanted to be smart about the injury and wouldn’t rush his superstar point guard back. … Forward Derrick Favors and swingman Josh Howard were held out for the Jazz because of injury. … Griffin’s dunks generate buzz but Jazz reserve F Jeremy Evans can match him in leaping ability. While Griffin jumped over a Kia during All-Star festivities, Evans said he jumped over his 2011 Camaro this summer to see if he could. “My goal was to land on the other side instead of on the hood. I didn’t touch it,” Evans said, who had three alley-oop dunks Tuesday.
