Logan councilmembers urging Cache County to take action against bad air

No vote was taken but after a lengthy discussion on Tuesday it was evident that some members of the Logan Municipal Council want to urge Cache County to take action now in dealing with Cache Valley’s air pollution problem. Outgoing Council Chairman Herm Olsen says instead of waiting for the the state and the EPA to come up with a plan the county should implement an emission testing program now. New councilmember Tom Jensen went along with that idea. “We have little children, we have elderly people, we have people like myself who have asthma or emphysema or some other kind of a thing,” Jensen said. “I really almost smart with the issue we’re responding to the EPA. I think we have to do something because it’s right and it’s health related.” New councilmember Karl Ward said he would not like to see the program started as a “knee-jerk” reaction. Olsen said you can’t call it that because former councilmember Laraine Swenson called for emission testing seven years ago.
