MC dominated, Bear River dominates in high school basketball

Layton dominates Mountain Crest 53-35

Mountain Crest lead by one at the end of one but it was all Layton from there on. Layton dominated with a final of Layton 53 to MC 35. The Mustangs have a week to work on things before they face off for the first region game against inter-valley rival Logan on Friday the 13th. -Jason Laursen

Bear River puts away the Grantsville Cowboys 58-32

Bear River has seen the lowest of lows this season. But as they found out Friday night, when they put together a strong run they can be very dangerous. The Bears outscored the Cowboys 22-9 in the third quarter and got their first region win of the year with a thumping 58-32 win. The Bears also ended a seven game losing streak in the process. Nick Hillis was the star for Bear River Friday night. The 6’7″ sophomore had 11 points and six rebounds. Coach Casey Winters said the defense was huge and the bench stepped up very big. Grantsville just could not find the rim in the first quarter not scoring a field goal in the entire eight minutes of the opening frame, and trailed the Bears 12-6. Now the Bears hope to retain that momentum as they face the undefeated Morgan Trojans in Bear River at 7:00 next Wednesday. -Ajay Salveson
