BOISE, Idaho (AP) – Boise State’s football team is headed to the Big East Conference, while it’s other sports teams are rejoining the Western Athletic Conference. University President Bob Kustra said the football’s team’s move to the Big East is another major step for the team and the university. Meanwhile, Kustra says that the move back to the WAC for other Broncos sports programs – including men’s and women’s basketball teams – offers a chance to rekindle some familiar rivalries. The football team will join the Big East starting in July 2013. The league also welcomed San Diego State, Houston, SMU and Central Florida. Big East executives only wanted the football team, forcing Kustra to find another league home other sports. The WAC had been Boise State’s conference for a decade.
